FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your child will learn about the process of creativity, starting with the very first step of having a vision and creating a goal for the camp. Right out of the gate on day one, participants will share their visions with the group, creating an experience of accountability and the added experience of giving and receiving more inspiration! Your child will learn about flexibility, as we continually assess student visions and allow the goal to evolve during the process. Additionally, your child will…

  • Learn how to discuss and work through frustration and perceived failure, as well as solve problems that arise in the creative process
  • Practice and reflect on “brain break” strategies to foster self-learning and authentic creative practices
  • Connect with members of the community who will present their own creative outlets and processes
  • Collaborate with other students in the camp, opening more doors to creativity and out-of-the-box thinking
  • Present the project to the community – even if it is “unfinished.” The focus of the camp is on the joy of process, not the finished project.

The participant will likely have 4-5 hours of time to focus on their individual project(s). While it isn’t necessary for the project to be “complete” by the end, students should have ideas that can keep them engaged for at least that amount of time.

Click Here for a list of ideas to help with brainstorming. It’s totally normal for a project to evolve/change during the camp, so don’t feel trapped by an idea!

Katy is willing to have a quick conversation prior to the camp with any participants that need support. Contact Katy to ask about this.
